What is CASL?

(Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation)

Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) published on July 1, 2014. Under the legislation, anyone (including teachers, principals, etc.) who sends an emails that encourages participation in a commercial activity must do the following:

  1. Receive the consent of the recipient
  2. Provide credentials for the sender
  3. Provide the option to unsubscribe, so that the recipient can remove themselves from the list
